Heritage Le Telfair Mauritius

As a family we adore coming to far away warm destinations. It’s our second time travelling to Mauritius and this time we stayed at a beautiful colonial style hotel Heritage Le Telfair Resort & Spa  which is set on the palm-fringed shores of south coast of Mauritius, Domaine de Bel Ombre.

Le Telfair forms part of Heritage Resorts hotel group and is also a member of Small Luxury Hotels group. The hotel is located on the site of the former sugar estate of Bel Ombre – one of Mauritius’ finest estates with a history that dates back over 200 years. A lot of the restaurants and buildings here are named after a one-time owner of the Domaine, Charles Telfair and his wife Annabella. A celebrated scientist and botanist, Telfair made a big impact to this magnificent part of the island and its agricultural development. Even to this day, an incredible 2500 hectares of preserved parkland is available for us to enjoy, making it one of the biggest resorts on the island, with the largest ( not one, but two!) golf courses: Le Château Golf Course and La Reserve Golf Links .

Heritage Le Telfair is also home to 12 restaurants and 8 bars. There’s no shortage of bold flavours, with eating that’s anything but bland. Meals are innovative and authentic with a particular focus on Asian cuisine and lots of seafood!

Unlike any other hotel, the Domaine has its own Château! Built by a wealthy Indian businessman in the late 19th century, this château to this day serves as a function venue, but it also boasts an amazing restaurant with a Michelin-worthy menu with locally sourced products.

There are 158 luxurious rooms and suites, divided into pavilions nestled among lush tropical gardens. Rooms are outfitted with dark wood, oversized four-poster beds, lavish drapery and rich textiles. Everything is elegant and refined with its old-world décor, tastefully revived for today’s living.

The resort boasts two spas – Seven Colours Spa and a Wellness Centre – with 9 treatments rooms offering bespoke massages and facials for some ultimate pampering and relaxation.

You might find yourself floating languidly towards the spa for a traditional Mauritian massage, or mopping up every drop of that garlic butter on your grilled lobster, before sinking into a supernaturally soft daybed for a well-deserved (or not-so) poolside siesta. After all, there are two large Swimming pools (600m² main pool and 175m² heated pool) at Le Telfair.

And if you’re feeling more adventurous, the Indian Ocean is just steps away from your room, so a whole world of water-sports is at your “flippertips”.
CBeach Club offers a wide range of activities, such as windsurfing, kayaking, sailing, snorkelling and waterskiing!

A resort of this calibre is really something. It offers everything you need for an idyllic island break. So, whether you’re after a romantic getaway for two, or an action-packed trip with the kids in tow, this truely enchanting resort is sure to tick all the boxes.
