They say oily skin is a blessing as it keeps your skin elastic and youthful for longer. However, as someone with this skin type, I’ve been awaiting the day when I can consider myself “blessed” for some time now.
The enlarged pores never really fade, and I have some acne scarring from my youth that I cover daily with foundation.
I’ve done chemical peels, extractions, microdermabrasion amongst many other treatments, which all help to an extent, but haven’t given me such an amazing result as the recent treatment I’ve had with Dr. Sheila – Volite .
Overall , I’m not a big fan of needles and a “fast-filler” culture which, I feel, has been a little over abused lately. However, I’ve been reassured by Dr Sheila, as her method is all about the “gentle approach”.
Sheila believes in natural looking results that are undetectable. She helps you every step of the way to choose treatments that balance and harmonise your individual facial features rather than give you that “stiff” or “done look”.
Unlike typical dermal fillers, Volite is a fairly new wave of hyaluronic acid injectables. It works in a way to condition and improve the texture of the skin.
Since it is made of hyaluronic acid – an ingredient that retains 1000x its water- it really hydrates your skin inside out and improves the overall quality of the skin, reducing pore size, as well as the appearance of fine lines.
So, as per Dr Sheila’s recommendation, I had Volite injected in my cheeks and chin and I also had Profhilo injected into my neck and around the décolletage area.
As Dr Sheila explained, Profhilo really hydrates and boosts your skin, whereas Volite also improves the texture and refines pores.
And downtime? There is no downtime for Volite , however you are left with a load of small mosquito-like bumps where you have been injected after Profhilo. These usually last for three to four hours after the procedure, as the hyaluronic acid has yet to disperse.
It has now been around two weeks since my treatments and I can really see the difference in my skin. I can see noticeable improvements in my face, with a healthier glow and super smooth texture, even without makeup.
With Profhilo, I still have to have another procedure, as it usually takes two consecutive treatments to see the full effect.
Would I recommend the treatment? Definitely!
Dr Sheila was super-thorough and made me feel like I was in the best possible hands. I loved my immediate results so much that I am now scheduling my next appointment in Beyond Medispa Harvey Nichols , Knightsbridge.
