Wedding wear for spring

Wedding season is upon us and most of us have few qualms about draining the free bar dry or jetting off to sunny skies for the nuptials. We all know the hard part comes in picking the outfit. Sadly we can’t find you Mr Right, but we sure as hell can help find you the right dress! Here’s our pick of the best wedding guest outfits for spring.

In the city

Heading to an I-do in the city? Keep it sleek, sharp and structured. It’s the perfect time to dust off that tailored suit you bought to show who’s office boss lady, or invest in a well-fitting cocktail dress you’ll still adore in a decade.

Ditch out dated rules in Gucci’s new season two-tone tuxedo suit in cream. It pairs perfectly with a dainty silk camisole and tapered trousers in matching cream or black. And if you’re worried about wearing whites to party, it also comes in a far stain-friendlier shade of fuchsia.

Or you could harness the feminine tailoring of Emilia Wickstead, who rules the wedding season dressing in every collection. Her Fabia shantung-tweed dress is covered up and lady-like but clings in all the right places. Pair it with a bold, floral hat for ultimate wow-factor.

For comfort and modesty try an ultra-flattering wrap dress in an eye-popping hue, like this Massimo Dutti silk number in turqoise.

In the countryside

Quaint country weddings are the ideal time to frolic with florals, and this season it’s all about the large-scale prints. Whistles’ cute and casual garden dress will serve you from wedding to after-party and its nipped-in waist and cold shoulder detailing exemplify subtly sexy.

D&G’s new season sunflower print frock with lace detailing will earn you major kudos from a fashion-forward crowd.

For high-drama and a lot of sparkle, Sandy Liang’s pastel-hued Impala dress is the perfect mix of dainty and disco.

In the sun

If you’re lucky enough to be jetting off to a beach wedding then you may as well embrace the current trends towards bold colours and cutaways. Attico’s Juliana dress is light enough for the heat but formal enough for a wedding, and its heavy straps and dainty midriff-cutaway offer just the right amount of modesty.

For high-drama look no further than Peter Pilotto. This striking purple taffeta dress ticks every style box.

If you’re not keen on showing a lot of skin then throw on an embellished maxi like Redvalentino’s crochet lace dress in a super on-trend shade of mustard.
