Victoria Beckham

“Yo, I’ll tell you what I want, what I really, really want!”

I think every girl in the country knew the lyrics to the infamous song, and every girl had her favourite Spice Girl who she tried her utmost to mimic in one way or another. Victoria was mine. Sure, she comes across as aloof, a little arrogant perhaps, but she always stood out from the crowd.

It was a role she had to play, however, as she herself admits in so many interviews these days, she was like most girls when she started her career – a little insecure, a little camera shy, perhaps she didn’t have the best voice in the band, and her skin was prone to breakouts. But one characteristic she never lacked was determination.

She proved that it’s not always the most talented who get ahead – persistence and tenacity are key. Victoria knew what she really, really wanted – and she believed in herself.

Meeting David and marrying him was a major milestone in this girl’s life and career. She admits she didn’t really know who the young lad was, or where he was heading. At first she liked him for what most of us liked this handsome fella for – his cute smile and rippling physique. But it wasn’t long before the duo were catapulted into the limelight, being snapped in their his-and-hers outfits with matching hairdos as their popularity and success increased in their own professional fields.

It was kind of sweet and perfectly silly, but lots of celebrities went through this crazy phase of couples matching in the 90s and early naughties – think Britney and Justin, Cheryl and Ashley, Brad and Jen, and later Angelina. All of the above no longer exist as couples, however. Victoria and David are still together.

Victoria is not afraid of reinventing herself or trying new things. Her transition from a band member to a solo artist, from a WAG to a fashion designer, led to transforming her family name into a highly-recognised commercial brand, “The Beckhams”, and resulted in success not many could have predicted. She continues to defy the pessimists and those who once criticised her, simply by doing and creating. She has shown the world, in a fairly short space of time, that she can be that Wonder Woman that does and has it all.

Despite the difficulties of celebrity life and the challenges that come with keeping your relationship close-knit and real, she and David have been married for almost 20 years. In the fickle world of the A-List, that’s a lifetime.

She is also a mother, of not one, but four children – and a working mother at that! She appears to effortlessly juggle it all: the travelling, the store openings, creating new designs and collections, and most of all, looking good at all times. Her style evolution has been impeccable. After four children and no stop to her business, she still manages to maintain her tiny frame and slim figure.

Her look dictates sophistication and elegance. I don’t think I’ve seen a single paparazzi shot where this woman looks anything less than perfect. You might argue that she has personal trainers, life coaches, health gurus, nannies and all the rest of it – but so be it! She built her life to be this way. She has created a hugely successful business which facilitates her jet-set lifestyle and I have huge amounts of respect for that. Moreover, not all celebrities who have the same entourage of personnel look as good as her (no need to name names here)! Determination and self-discipline? This woman is almost the definition.

I am wearing VB Wool Jumper and Skirt, Christian Louboutin Shoes and Celine Bag

Victoria understands the female body, and her designs are never frumpy or unflattering. Her figure-skimming dresses change with the seasons but maintain the VB look: the long-line sleeves, the zip that runs from hem to hem, the nipped in waists and sensual silhouettes. Through ingenuity, diligence and most likely trial and error on herself, she’s evolved into one sophisticated, highly sought after designer – and all the more power to her!
