Style whatever the weather: Waterproof wardrobe essentials

It may be mid summer but this hasn’t stopped the rain from sporadically rearing its ugly head. Torrential downpours don’t have to mean getting to the office in a puddle of your own misery, however – these chic and cheerful must-haves are as wearable as they are waterproof.

Tootsies are always the last to dry off so a good pair of rain boots is essential. For a traditional Wellington, the astutely British Burberry has you covered with a range of elegant designs that range from ankle boots to knee-length. We’re in love with this black pair featuring the brand’s iconic beige trench belt.

For durability with style, Sorel offer a selection of chic and highly functional waterproof boots – and they even cater to the lady that lives in heels. Their Joan Rain boot is ideal for summer showers, made from waterproof vulcanised rubber and set onto a glamorously gripped wedge heel.

A waterproof trench is the perfect way to keep the rain off and it’ll never go out of style. Herno does a lightweight midi version in black which falls below the knee for extra coverage.

For sports luxe vibes in all conditions, sailing suppliers Helly Hansen offer ultra-waterproof jackets in a range of colours. With its nipped-in waist and pack-away hood we’re swooning over the Laurel coat in shell pink.

Adidas by Stella McCartney also has some great new-season options for the runners out there. The Run Kite jacket is wind and rain proof and comes in two alluring shades. Can we have both?

When it comes to brollies, look no further than Lulu Guinness. From colour-changing to miniature and everything in between, there’s truly a design for everyone. Our current favourite is this adorable, transparent birdcage umbrella.

Finally, to arrive at work sans panda-eye, don’t forget the waterproof mascara. For thick, curly and steadfast-in-any-weather lashes, La Roche Posay’s Respectissime mascara is even suitable for contact lens wearers.
