Rejina Pyo

Rejina Pyo is a London-based designer who’s found snowballing success just four years after starting her eponymous label. Her much-coveted Greta dress was spotted everywhere at NYFW and she’s garnered a strong online following. A former assistant designer to Roksanda Ilincic, Korean-born Pyo held her first full catwalk show during London Fashion Week, inciting appraisal across the board.

Despite recruiting almost half the show via Instagram, the forward-thinking designer drew commendation for her staunch take on inclusivity. Models broke free of the cookie-cutter mould, ranging in age as well as body shape and size, many of them personal friends or collaborators of the designer. A recent mum herself, Pyo described her show as a celebration of her new maternal role, saying “I want to make clothes that people can wear every day and still feel special.”

The overall aesthetic showcased many of the traits Pyo’s become known for: graphic inspiration from art (this season, she was drawn to Nicholas Nixon’s portraits of four sisters who have been photographed every year since 1975), street-style friendly designs, and her remarkable ability to appeal to women of all ages.

Relaxed trouser-suits with pebble-like buttons, loose wide-leg trousers and oversized denim covered the casual side, while a selection of refined cocktail dresses added elegance. A plunging gold lamé dress, a scarlet-tiered gown and a sparkling floor-skimming black number injected a grown-up formality into the show. Coats were monochrome, simple and structured, featuring mismatched buttons.

Fashion influencers from Pandora Skyes to Aimee Song are known to be fans of the Central Saint Martin’s graduate and many stars of social media were spotted front-row.

Pyo’s designs are now stocked by over 100 retailers worldwide, including Harvey Nichols, Liberty, Browns and Selfridges, as well as online at Farfetch, Shopbop, Net-a-porter and more. We’re currently swooning over this pink crushed velvet blazer, available at Farfetch.
