Style’n’Snitch are very excited to announce a new brand now available made-to-order in our ever-expanding shop. The creations of Ekaterina Kukhareva are quite unlike anything we’ve seen before. A true visionary, the Ukrainian-born designer graduated with a BA in textiles and knitwear from Central St Martin’s before cutting her teeth at major forces like Temperley London.
Her incredible creations are best seen in person. Harnessing the full colour spectrum and playing off her own eclectic knowledge of yarn behaviour and technical pattern-cutting, each piece reflects Ekaterina’s vast skillset and ability to think outside the box.
Dramatic shapes are created by voluminous sleeves and contour-hugging lines. Expect exquisite tailoring in everything from her summery, chuck-on shirt-dresses to her floor-skimming, all-lace ‘Thea’ gown – the perfect showstopper for a big-city black-tie event. The creations of Kukhareva are so versatile they can be worn from the ball to the boardroom, lounging on holiday, to impress over a business lunch or just every day cruising around the city.
And indeed it is the metropolitan lifestyle that served as the inspiration behind the young designer’s SS18 collection, simply called ‘In the City.’ Fluted hems and ultra-flattering wrap dresses in striking hues of canary yellow and fuchsia serve as easy everyday pieces, while the edgier client might favour a forward-thinking co-ord with contrasting scallop details.
Ekaterina’s AW18 collection plays off similar silhouettes, with exaggerated flares and wide hems ruling the runway. Girly florals are contrasted with avant-garde prints, while scalloped side-stripes have this season been replaced with theatrical feathers. The designer’s background comes to the forefront in this collection, with bold, bright knits and prints making it both dazzling and memorable.
