The most iconic celebrity swimwear moments – and how to recreate them

When the world went dotty for Brigitte Bardot in And God Created Woman (1956)

The film that propelled a young Brigitte into stardom showcased a beehive hairstyle, winged eyeliner and an oh-so-iconic teeny, weeny polka dot bikini.

Polka dots are bang on trend right now so it won’t take a lot if effort to recreate the legendary look. We love this super girly, flouncy two-piece by Lisa Marie Fernandez.

Ursula Andress in Dr No (1962)

Arguably the most famous bikini of all time, Ursula Andress’ unforgettable entrance to the classic Bond movie is still mimicked today.

The white top and gold buckle belt make for a look that’s both sporty and unquestionably sexy. Melissa Obadash creates a similar silhouette in this super sleek, form-flattering bikini.

Bo Derek as the perfect 10 (1979)

In the classic film, 10Bo Derek solidified her status as a screen siren while simultaneously proving that a one-piece can be just as alluring as a bikini.

Nude and natural palettes are still entirely en vogue so it’s easy to recreate this look – with or without the cornrows! We love the La Reveche Amira swimsuit in a similar champagne hue, but with an up-to-the-minute addition of a frilly, floral trim.

Pamela Anderson in Baywatch, obviously (1989-2001)

The epitome of beach babe, Pam’s red swimsuit had men and women tuning in weekly to see her slo-mo antics across the sand.

Also big in the 80s was label Hunza G and it’s currently enjoying a resurgence thanks to celebs like Emily Ratajkowski and Bella Hadid. This hip-grazing seersucker one-piece has CJ Parker written all over it.

Halle Berry harks back in Die Another Day (2002)

More than two decades since Bo Derek’s aforementioned emergence from the depths, Halle Berry payed homage to the scene in her own orange swimsuit.

Another huge colour this summer, orange is everywhere. This triangle bikini from Matteau will have you channelling your favourite Bond girl in no time.

Rihanna goes for gold in Copacabana

There are few celebs that have been papped enjoying sun, sea and swimwear quite as much as Riri. And with a body like that, why shouldn’t she be?

In 2014 Riri cemented her role as a fashion icon with this super skimpy gold bikini. Dare to bare like the Barbadian in a similar style from PIECES at Asos.

Gigi Hadid wows for Seafolley

Gigi secured her place amongst the world’s most famous supermodels shortly after appearing in a campaign for Australian swimwear favourites, Seafolly. Her sporty physique complimented the brand’s style perfectly.

We love their new season shape like this printed bust boosting bikini.
