Festival de Cannes

Once a year, the film world’s elite descends on the French Riviera for a week of movie mayhem, all-round hedonism and dressing up to the nines. Cannes is the festival to see and be seen at, so naturally those in attendance are expected to pull out all the stops when it comes to outfit choices.

Whether its navel-skimming necklines, floor-sweeping hemlines, fabulous feathers or rows-upon-rows of ruffles, haute couture knows no limits on this red carpet. Here’s our favourite haute couture pieces from Cannes 2018.

Amber Heard played off a penchant for exaggerated florals in this daringly plunged Valentino number.

Helen Mirren proves that beauty knows no age limits in this floor-skimming royal blue velvet piece by Elie Saab Haute Couture.

Never one to shy away from the limelight, Joan Smalls proved that less really is more in a simple ivory-hued Miu Miu dress with oversized bow detailing.

Kenyan beauty, Lupita Nyong’o wowed audiences in a white Dior Haute Couture dress, featuring a geometric panelled bodice and sweeping feathered skirt.

Fan Bingbing showcased layer-upon-layer of turquoise tulle in Ali Karoui Haute Couture.

Also opting for high drama, Julianne Moore stole the show in Givenchy Haute Couture.  Her scarlet maxi featured a lavish feathered train for ultimate impact.

Eternally youthful Naomi Campbell showcased monochromatic Dolce & Gabbana, styling her shimmering white body-con dress with a contrast belt and thick choker.

Carey Mulligan looked timelessly chic as always in a cream Dior Haute Couture maxi dress.

Channeling a 90s Liz Hurley, Irina Shayk sported a barely-there Atelier Versace gown with cut-outs from neckline to hem. And if we had her figure we would too!
