Elena Shvab Millinery

Here at Style’n’Snitch we’re always looking for a new milliner to regale in, and the free-spirited creations of Elena Shvab certainly don’t disappoint. The young London-based designer of Israeli-Russian heritage first apprenticed at acclaimed milliners such as Edwina Ibbotson and Piers Atkinson before branching off on her own.

Each hat is a work of art in itself, which perhaps isn’t surprising as the designer takes inspiration from her favourite painters and visionaries throughout history. Her most recent collection, entitled “Tenera,” in fact, is directly inspired by modernist painters Gustav Klimpt and Yves Klein, and in particular their revolutionary technique of integrating metallic foil into their masterpieces.

Elena also takes her inspiration from nature – her previous collection revolved around the magnolia, with each piece playing off the flower’s sinuous forms and colours.

As well as her two seasonal collections released each year, Elena offers a bespoke commissioning service for private clients across the globe. Her designs can often be spotted perched prettily atop the heads of spectators at events like Ascot and the Melbourne Cup Final.
