Catherine Prevost

Catherine Prevost is a jewel aficionado, an entrepreneur and a mum – and this is all apparent in her luxurious and robust designs. Since the beginning of her illustrious career, the Windsor-based, American-born jewellery maker has generated widespread acclaim. Her very first collection way back in 1991 was exceptionally well-received, almost immediately being picked up by major international department stores like Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue.

Prevost is known for having the final say in everything she does, from her earliest design sketches down to the immaculate styling of her photoshoots. “When you’re a designer, (beauty) impacts every area of your life,” she once said. “I adore watching people feel prettier when they put on my jewellery.”

In 1997, Prevost, aged just 30, opened her Knightsbridge boutique and watched it quickly became an A-Lister hotspot. Stars like Kate Moss, Gwyneth Paltrow and Sarah Jessica Parker flocked to the label’s former treasure trove-like space.

From an outsider’s perspective, Prevost, seems to have found the ideal balance between work and home life. After ten successful years selling out of her Walton Street boutique, she made the bold decision to close doors to spend more time with her four children. While she undoubtedly made the most of motherhood, she couldn’t quite tear herself away from the desire to create beautiful things. Prevost continued to design pieces for herself and her friends during this time, maintaining a strong following by selling out of trunk shows, often held in the homes of her most loyal customers.

Now over a decade later, she’s back online and in stores with a brand new collection that’s sure to excite jewellery lovers across the globe. Fans can expect a complex mix of old-school glamour and unusual materials paired with entirely modern design elements. Extravagant cocktail rings, elegant wooden pieces, long beaded necklaces and, of course, plenty of shimmering stones and diamonds make up the collection that was immediately snapped up by Net-a-porter.

Some of our favourite pieces include the fabulously glitzy ‘Wave Ring’ formed of an art deco style gold backing inset with deep green malachite; as well as her selection of brightly-hued necklaces like the bold ‘Biltmore Necklace’ in coral.
