It’s a well-known fact that the well-heeled flock to SW19 once a year to support their tennis heroes, but Wimbledon is also the place to see and be seen. The sidelines and surrounding celebrations are heavily scrutinised throughout the sporting event, so it’s no surprise that attendees think long and hard about their outfit choice.
Tea dresses, tailoring and crisp whites are a dime a dozen. Here’s who we think really mastered their fashion game this season.
5. Rosamund Pike
She earned major kudos in 2015 when she rocked up in all whites by Antonio Berardi, but the English actress surpassed herself this year by thinking outside the box. Decked out in a blue floral Erdem dress, Pike looked every inch the English rose at the Champions’ Dinner.
4. Eddie Redmayne
The ladies often steal the fashion limelight, but we think there’s plenty of space for fellas too. Eddie Redmayne showed everyone how it’s done, choosing a linen two-piece that perfectly complimented his svelte frame. Proving he has an eye for fashion, the grey-blue colouring of the Ralph Lauren suit was the perfect match to his wife Hannah’s marine blue ensemble.
3. Emilia Clarke
The Mother of Dragons looked every part the Queen she is when spotted in the audience wearing a printed Dolce & Gabbana dress. The pussy bow and pleated skirt payed homage to Wimbledon tradition, but the bold floral and black-based print secured her place as a fashion leader, not a follower.
2. Kate Middleton
No surprises that the Duchess of Cambridge made the cut this year – her outfits are continuously tasteful, demure and yet always in fashion. A D&G polka dot midi caused quite the stir on the opening day, but it was her botanical print Catherine Walker dress donned for the men’s final that really courted our attention.
1. Sienna Miller
Well she’s done it again. Serving up a sunny yellow Ralph Lauren co-ord at the men’s finals, Sienna Miller proved she only gets better with age. The stellar look featured just the right amount of midriff, while the midi-length skirt kept it classy.
Britain may not have won big at this year’s event, but our fashion idols sure championed!
