Birds and bouquets: ‘tis the season of florals and feathers

There’s no time like the present to reach for your boldest, brightest statement pieces.

While florals are by no means revolutionary in fashion, it’s the way we’re wearing them this season that is. Ditch the ditsy prints, this summer we’re opting for daring and unexpected bouquets appearing on, well frankly, everything. Here’s how to wear head-to-toe florals without looking like the curtains of a stately home.

Browns Fashion

Embrace the flower power: In the past most of us would’ve shied away from wearing the same pattern top-to-toe, but recently brands like Gucci and Balenciaga have convinced us otherwise. Matching trainers, skirt and blouse? Yes please!

Mix-n-match: If you’re not ready to go the whole flowery hog then try experimenting with floral separates. Combine differing print sizes, patterns and textures for maximum impact.

Accessorise: Get in on the trend by sporting powerful flowers on everything from jewellery to sandals, as showcased by Lanvin, Miu Miu and many more.

No longer reserved for the plumage of our avian friends, feathers are another trend we’re flocking to at the moment. Whether they’re perched proudly atop of a fanciful headpiece or falling down feathery hemlines, they’re a little bit of luxe we can’t get enough of.

Invest in a feathered frock: Few fabrications are as fancy as feathers. Fact.  Shop the Farfetch SS17 Collection and make a statement! Go fully feathered, as seen at Balenciaga and Calvin Klein.

Flaunt feathered trims: It’s not the easiest trend to wear in the daytime, but subtler ostrich feather trims are a chirpy way to get in on the action. Look to J.W Anderson for casual inspiration.

Feathers on feet: Prada , Miu Miu and Giuseppe Zanotti have all confirmed that bird’s the word when it comes to shoes. Can we have them all?
